On November 15, 2023, Motionworks published an update to its Basecast™ by Date product. The full validation report for this release can be found here. This release includes:
- Scheduled monthly release of the October 2023 county- and DMA-level travel statistics.
- Publishing August 2019 county and DMA-level travel statistics
- Resolved 2019 and 2020 Total Population Estimates
Known Issues
The following known issues are anticipated be released in the upcoming December 15, 2023:
- Adjustments to Sunday / Monday transition: Motionwoks processes Basecast on a weekly basis using UTC midnight as the cut. Given global timezones, this can lead to jagged results near the weekly cutoff.
- Long Distance Trip Scaling Enhancements: Long distance trips are have a disproportionate impact on person miles traveled in some counties particularly in Alaska.
- Geographic Specific:
- Cook County (IL) has days with stay at home percent around 1.5 percent.
- Sussex County (MA) has days with went to work percent around 1.5%.
- Cook County (IL) has days with zero trips percent around 1.5%.
- Hutchinson (KS) has a PMT of 684 miles per person on some days.
- Humboldt County (CA) has a stay at home percent of 88 percent.
- Bakersfield County (CA), Palm Springs (CA) DMA, Charlottesville (VA) DMA, and Humboldt (CA) have days when no one stays home
- Chico-Redding (CA) DMA has days when no one goes to work
