Total Population Activity
Motionworks provides past, present, and predictive insights on how the total population moves throughout the physical world. Everywhere. All the time.
Utilizing the fully developed Synthetic Populations and completed Activity Patterns, each digital person follows their assigned itinerary for the week.
Each discrete digital person:
- Receives an itinerary sensitive to the composition of their household and work location.
- Selects appropriate destinations given the activities to be accomplished, home and work locations, and the profiling of areas of the region frequented or avoided by their geo-demographic cohort.
- Chooses how and when to travel given the availability of vehicles to the household, activities of the day, availability of transport options, and most of all, the propensity of their geo-demographic cohort to choose specific options.
The simulation integrates the observed device activities, first-party, and third-party data sets to provide a comprehensive model of where the total population is at any given moment in time.
Using the above approach, Motionworks is able to fully capture population activity and produce the most robust foot-traffic circulation in places and vehicular volumes on roadways. Motionworks provides a 360-degree activity view capturing regarding the who, why, and how many people are there. The solution also answers questions such as:
- where were they before they traveled here?
- how did they travel to get here?
- what roadways and other locations were passed along the way?
- where are they going next?
- how often are they visiting this place and or others like it?
This approach empowers Motionworks to manipulate the existing infrastructure to look into the future when new places or roadways are built or closed and how the population will respond to these changes.
