Popcast Anytime Maptiles

Stream Popcast Anytime occupancy data as Mapbox Vector Tiles through a grant-based access pattern: discover tilesets, mint a grant, render in MapLibre.

Popcast Anytime Maptiles delivers the Popcast Anytime occupancy surface as Mapbox Vector Tiles (MVT) for direct rendering in MapLibre GL and compatible map clients. It is the same licensed product data as the Snowflake panel, served through the Motionworks API v2 tile surface instead of table exports.

Access pattern

The surface follows the Motionworks vector-tile grant pattern, shared with Paths, Places, Placecast, Displays, and Markets Reference maptiles:

  1. Discover the published tilesets with GET /v2/popcast/tiles/anytime/tilesets. This endpoint is public and free (0 credits).
  2. Mint a grant with POST /v2/popcast/tiles/anytime/grants. Your organization must be licensed for the popcast.anytime.segment_occ_tiles feature. Grant management calls are free.
  3. Render the tiles with the grant's TileJSON document wired into your map client; see Rendering Anytime tiles in MapLibre GL. Tile fetches are metered at 1 credit per 1000 tiles.

What is covered

Twelve CY2025 tilesets on the _bg_tiles_v4 family: one All Persons layer plus eleven audience segments, each covering 2025-01 through 2025-12 at Census block group grain with state, county, and tract grains also addressable. Layers estimate how many people are present in a geography at any hour of day across four day types, going back to January 2019 in the underlying panel.

Licensing and cost

Tile access is gated by the popcast.anytime.segment_occ_tiles entitlement; one entitlement covers all tilesets with no per-segment scoping. Grant CRUD and discovery are free; tile fetches cost 1 credit per 1000 tiles served. Details in Licensing and cost for Anytime maptiles.
